Incorporated in 1996, the large tracts of land which became Weston were originally purchased parcel by parcel by Arthur Vining Davis, owner of Arvida, through the 1950s. Initial plans for development were not approved until 1978. Initially named Indian Trace, the first houses were constructed in Country Isles and Windmill Ranches in 1984.

Today Weston features A-rated public and excellent private schools, outstanding public safety with the lowest crime rate per capita in Broward, along with the lowest millage rate and combined property, municipal taxes and fees in the county.
